Remotely access 1 win 7 computer from another one on home network__

Need to know if it is possible to access one windows 7 computer from another windows 7 computer using remote access. These computers are set-up on a home network and are joined using homegroup. Are there instructions on how to set-up the computers so that this can be done? I cannot seem to find anything. Want to be able to be on laptop and connect to desktop and use applications on desktop not just files. Thank you for your help.

"Remote Desktop" is native to Windows 7. Click Start, then Help, then type Remote Desktop to find out all about it.

WinVNC is freeware. You can find it by typing "download WinVNC" into a Google search box, resulting in this link: http://www.realvnc.com/products/download.html.

TeamViewer is free for home use. You can find it by typing "Download TeamViewer". Both WinVNC and TeamViewer have their own instruction manual but you can post here again if you get stuck.

Yes, it is possible with various utilities such as Remote Desktop, TeamViewer or WinVNC. What flavour of Windows 7 does the desktop run? Is it OK if the desktop screen turns black during a remote session?
Windows 7 on the desktop is the ultimate and the laptop has windows 7 home. Are these utilities in the Windows 7 os or are they something that needs to be purchased separately? Like I mentioned we have the computers set-up as a homegroup and can that stay or do the need to be disconnected from the group? Trying to figure this out for my father. Are there instructions anywhere on how to set the computers up? Thanks for your help.
