I was tasked with generating documentation for a database model I designed. I need something that essentially generates a "profile" (name, type, description) for each table and field in the database. Do I need to do this by hand, or is there a tool that can do that from MySQL code?
The deliverable is going to be a printout…so it can't be an on-screen solution
UPDATE: If you're suggesting MySQL Workbench, could you detail how you export something with descriptions of the fields in a printable format?
See if MySQL Workbench suits your needs.
It can generate the ER diagram with good enough details. It can reverse engineer mysql scripts.
You could also try Techwriter, which although not free, does offer a 15 day trial version.
