Do I need XML DOM Document & XML HTTP 3.0 Add-ons for just browsing the web?

Do I need XML DOM Document & XML HTTP 3.0 Add-ons for just browsing the web?

Are they needed for the normal function of internet explorer or they are development tools and I can Disable them and nothing will change in the way I browse the web?

-------------Problems Reply------------

Hello Coleon,

If you don't have any issues while, the add-ons are enabled then, I would advice not to disable the add-ons from Internet Explorer. These add-ons might be required for any of the website so, its always better to keep them enabled. Refer to the article mentioned below for more information.

Hello Coleon,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have questions related to XML DOM & XML HTTP. We are glad to assist you with the same.

I would like to know some more information on this issue to help you better.

1) Do you have issues while these XML DOM & XML HTTP add-ons are enabled?

2) What is the exact problem with Internet Explorer?

In the meanwhile, you may refer to the descriptions for both the add-ons to know more about them.

The Document Object Model (DOM) as implemented in MSXML provides a programmatic representation of XML documents, fragments, nodes, or node-sets. It also provides an application programming interface for working with XML data.

What is XML DOM?

XML HTTP is a object that enables the browser to send and receive asynchronous, out-of-band HTTP requests to the Web server, which responds with XML.

I get a pop up from Microsoft telling me to disable add-ons for faster browsing and also have problems with a cursor that has a continual spinning circle. So I have disabled most all the add-ons except: XML HTTP, XML HTTP 3.0, XML HTTP 6.0, XML HTTP REQUEST, XML DOM DOCUMENT, and WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER. Are any of these ADD-ONS slowing down my browser or responsible for the spinning circle on my cursor-pointer?

Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft Community forum.

Add-ons are apps that Internet Explorer uses to interact with web content like videos and games. Toolbars and extensions are also types of add-ons. Some common add-ons are Adobe Flash, Quicktime, and Silverlight. Internet Explorer is designed to provide an add-on free experience, and will play HTML5 and many Adobe Flash videos without needing to install a separate add-on.

The risks of installing add-ons

While add-ons can make your browsing experience better by giving you access to great web content, some add-ons can pose security, privacy, or performance risks. Make sure any add-ons you install are from a trusted source.

The add-ons which you have not disabled seem to be either of Microsoft or from a trusted source. So, there is no need to worry. However, if you think any of these add-ons is not necessary then you can disable it and whenever you need any of them you can enable it.

For more clarification you may refer to the article mentioned below.
