Automatic Update Link between excel and word

I just updated to 2010 Office. I have some links between excel and word and they no longer will update automatically even though I have it set to. The old version was 2003. What can I do to get them to auto update. I have to now right click and select update for anything to update.

  • right click,
  • select "Link macro enabled Worksheet Object" ,
  • select Links ... , to display the Links dialog.
  • Check that the "Update Method for selected link" is set to "Automatic Update"

Could you please educate me how to dynamic refresh the word file.

Let an example:

I have 5 tabs given link to word file. And later I have updated some values in particular excel tabs. And I want it will automatic update my word file.

Please help me in high priority.

Thanks for your quick response and step forward to help me.

I have copied the content from Excel Table and while paste in word document, I have used Paste Special -> "Link & use destination style". In this process, if any value changed in excel document, I need to go to particular table in word file and press f9 to get updated figure.

My Requirement: Let's an example of XYZ company statement for the financial year 2013. I have 5 financial statements in different 5 Tabs of a excel work book. I need to present those 5 statements in word file. I have followed the above said procedure for copying those 5 individual tables and paste special in word file.

In 2014 Year, there are value changes in 5 tables in excel. And in that case, I need to save the excel file first. Then I need to go back to word file and refresh the figures by click "F9" for all individual table.

Question: 1. Do you have any kind of functionality which can automatic change all the figures instead of clicking "F9" for all individual table ?

2. Do you have any other procedure to get update these value automatic from excel to linking in word file ?

In Word, under File>Options>Advanced>General, do you have a check mark in the box for "Update Automatic Links at open?

Yes, I have checked that particular box. But it's not updating those values. I need to click "F9" to get those values. And even I noticed the format of table changed after click "F9".

Save Both Of Excel & Word on " Word Macro - Enabled Template "

Your Path Is :

File Tab - Save As - Computer & Press on Browse Then Save as type must be " Word Macro - Enabled Template "

That has no bearing at all on the OP's issue. Indeed, it's only likely to make matters worse.
Having the same exact problem, any other solutions?
